Purpose: The legendary life of the Buddha has been vividly illlustrated in painting and sculpture. It is an enthralling way to introduce students to both the religion and its spread from India to China. Changhwan Park, U. C. Berkeley graduate student in Buddhist studies, has collected a sampling of images from across Asia to illustrate the life story in ten acts.
The site also includes a glossary of Buddhist terms, a bibliography of texts and links, and suggested classroom activities emphasizing visual literacy skills.
