Why I don't do listlogs:

  1. I've never listlogged, really.
  2. I actually don't read many weblogs, only the first dozen or so on my weblog list and a few artblogs.
  3. Lloyd does a great job at it, and is a natural since he's the instigator or much of this weblogging business, so when I do read a Berkeley-related weblog not on my list it's because he's linked to it.
  4. My weblog's project is not so much anymore about community. It's become something more self-centered, even somewhat narrow.

The story of Ruby... I can't even finish the Inisheer story- how am I going to tell this one? In short:

  1. Dog turns up on neighbor's porch
  2. We get involved, foster for a couple of days
  3. We start getting attached, but the plan is to find the right place for her
  4. Uh oh, we're getting more attached
  5. Cat's lives disrupted, but not too freaky
  6. I'm out walking her late one night when a young family with three very small kids comes around the corner and gets all excited- their dog
  7. Turns out...
    1. This family lives right around the corner
    2. She's an SPCA survivor
    3. Not the first time she ran away
    4. This dog is supposed to be Dad's project, but...
      1. He's not into it anymore
      2. He saw the flyer's in the neighborhood and told his wife she'd call, but never did
      3. As we're talking late at night, two of the young kids bouncing around, Dad calls to see where they are, she tells him they've found the dog, he's totally cool with her not bringing the dog home
      4. We know we're not letting that dog go back anyway if we can do anything about it
  8. We tell her the dog has options
  9. Mom is actually very nice, sensible, hardworking
  10. We decide to work with the dog ourselves
  11. I've wanted a dog for quite awhile, so we're test driving
  12. She's working on us, very sweet and well-behaved
  13. I just spent $40 bucks on treats, chew toys, a chokeless collar, and 25 pounds of food
  14. What do you think is going to happen?
