Well, lately, this ain't been much of any kind of education weblog, now has it? Too many things going on, too scattered, to even fully pay attention to other stuff.
Today in Berkeley/Oakland:
Everybody knows (I can't say those two words without a Velvet Underground song popping into my head, although, now that I read the lyrics again, it's a nasty little putdown song with a beautiful melody- that's the VU for you) I like the rain. Easier for me because I don't bike to work.
This morning I was walking up Telegraph to work. It was drizzly, the streets were wet, and as I walked past Larry Blakes I caught the sudden whiff of fried potatoes and beer. I instantly had a flashback, and felt I was walking the streets of Dublin at mid-morning in a light rain as pubs are opening and readying for lunch and trucks are delivering kegs. I really felt like I was there. It made me happy. I wanted fish and chips and Guinness for lunch. I wanted to be there. I still feel it a couple of hours later. I looked at the weather for Dublin.
Today in Dublin:
May Raymond forgive me:

Lunch at "Raymond's restaurant," eating chicken and melon over rice; I'm having my usual tofu and bok choy over rice rolls.

San Quentin, Corte Madera, and Mt. Tam from the San Rafael Bridge
Now playing: Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Roskilde Festival, Roskilde, Denmark, 6/27/96
