I'm at my parents house sitting and holding a plate
eating dinner in another room from which I can look at the rest of my
family at the table also eating dinner; I figure I'm not at the table
because there is no room, but I look again and realize there is room,
so I ask why, and my dad says, "we thought it was a good idea for
you to dissociate from the family:" based on a dream.
When I woke I ran through the dream wondering if
he said disassociated or dissociate. He definitely said dissociate, which
is interesting, because if I myself were to choose the word I would say
"disassociate," meaning to separate from or end association, whereas I mostly know
the word "dissociate" as a clinical term meaning to emotionally
withdraw for self protection, and sometimes results in what can be
defined simply as split personality..
